Let Me Introduce Myself

Dedrick Odomes beside the waterfront, founder of Therapy of Sounds.

My name is Dedrick Odomes. I'm a father, a creative, and someone who's still learning and growing through life, just like everybody else.

I've been through a lot in my lifetime. I've made mistakes, faced challenges, experienced loss, and had to learn some lessons the hard way. But I've also experienced love, happiness, accomplishments, and moments that reminded me there's more to life than whatever difficulties I might be facing.

I don't pretend to have everything figured out. I don't think anybody ever really does. But I do believe our experiences, both good and bad, can teach us something about ourselves and how we see the world.

For as long as I can remember, music has been a part of my life. Not just something to listen to, but something I could connect with. And when I began creating music myself, that connection took on a whole different meaning.

When life became overwhelming, creating music gave me somewhere to escape for a while. It helped me stay grounded, provided emotional relief, and gave me moments of peace when I needed them. But it also brought me joy, laughter, excitement, and the freedom to simply create.

When everything around me was chaotic, music made sense.

As my interest in creating music grew, I found enjoyment in experimenting with sounds, putting ideas together, and hearing something come to life that didn't exist before.

There was something about that process that meant more to me than simply making a song or a beat. It gave me a way to express myself, focus my energy, release emotions, and sometimes just get away from everything for a little while.

Over the years, I've continued to develop my skills as a music producer, eventually earning my Bachelor of Science in Music Production from The Los Angeles Film School. But the personal connection I have with music is something no classroom could have taught me.

I've also found ways to express myself through writing. My book, Searching My Soul, I Found Me, is another part of that journey of looking at my life, asking questions, and trying to better understand myself.

And I think that's something we all do in one way or another. We look for things that give us purpose, bring us happiness, help us through difficult moments, or simply make life a little more enjoyable.

For me, creating music has been one of those things.

Why I Created Therapy of Sounds

I believe in Therapy of Sounds because it comes from something real in my own life.

Creating music has helped me through difficult times, but it's also brought me happiness, peace, laughter, and a sense of freedom. I know what it's like to have a lot going on in life and need something that allows you to step away from it all, even if it's just for a little while.

For me, creating music has been that outlet.

Over time, I came to understand that it wasn't just about the music I was making. It was about what I experienced while making it. The freedom to express myself, the ability to focus on something positive, the enjoyment of creating, and those moments when I could simply be present without everything else weighing on me.

Creating music also gave me a way to release what I was feeling. Sometimes that meant letting go of stress, frustration, or emotions I couldn't quite put into words. Other times, it meant releasing excitement, happiness, energy, and imagination.

That's what inspired me to create Therapy of Sounds.

I wanted to take something that has made a difference in my own life and share that experience with other people, especially those dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or difficult circumstances. But also those who simply want to have fun, explore something different, or discover a new interest.

I believe creativity is something we all have within us, even if we express it in different ways. Sometimes all it takes is an opportunity to explore it, try something new, and see where it leads.

What I Believe

My approach isn't centered on musical technique or becoming a professional producer. It's about holistic wellness through the experience of creating music.

I believe our mental, emotional, and creative well-being are connected, and that making time for creative expression can be a meaningful part of caring for ourselves.

Therapy of Sounds isn't therapy in the traditional clinical sense. It's a creative approach to wellness that uses music-making, artistic expression, enjoyment, and human connection to give people opportunities to explore what makes them feel good, grounded, and connected to themselves.

When you're creating music, you're doing more than putting sounds together. You're exploring ideas, making choices, expressing yourself, and experiencing the satisfaction of bringing something into existence.

But creating music is also about release.

It's an opportunity to take whatever you're feeling or experiencing and express it in your own way. You don't always have to explain what you're feeling or even understand it completely. Sometimes you just need somewhere to put that energy.

And sometimes it's not even about finding a deeper meaning. Sometimes it's simply about having fun, laughing, experimenting, and enjoying the moment.

That's just as important to me.

I believe in this approach because I've experienced it myself. I know what creating music has brought into my life, and I want others to have the opportunity to discover what it might bring into theirs.

The Meaning Behind Create. Release. Reset.

These three words represent more than a slogan for Therapy of Sounds. They reflect what I've experienced through creating music and what I hope others have the opportunity to explore.

Create. Give yourself the freedom to explore, experiment, and express yourself. Take an idea, a feeling, or even a simple sound and see where it leads.

Release. Let go of some of what you've been carrying. Whether it's stress, frustration, excitement, happiness, or creative energy, allow yourself the freedom to express it through the process of making music.

Reset. Take a moment for yourself. Step away from everyday pressures, reconnect with the present, and give yourself the opportunity to return to your day with a different perspective.

To me, these aren't three separate steps that everyone has to follow. They're possibilities that creating music can offer, and everyone may experience them differently.

Why I Stand Behind Therapy of Sounds

Therapy of Sounds isn't something I created simply because I know how to make music or because I wanted to start a business.

It grew out of my own experiences, my appreciation for creative expression, and my belief that taking time to create can make a meaningful difference in someone's day.

I want people to feel comfortable exploring their creativity without pressure or expectations. Whether they're looking for an outlet, a new experience, a moment of peace, or simply something enjoyable to do, I want Therapy of Sounds to be a place where they feel welcome.

This isn't about how perfectly someone can make a beat or how much they know about music production. It's about the experience of creating, the freedom to express themselves, and the opportunity to discover something meaningful or simply enjoyable along the way.

I'm not here to tell anybody what creating music should mean to them.

I can only share what it's meant to me and why I believe in giving others the opportunity to experience it.

That's the foundation of Therapy of Sounds, and that's something I genuinely stand behind.

Create. Release. Reset.
